Synopsis of Minutes

Present: Lisa Bos-Atchison, Chairperson; Mark Muir, Vice-Chairperson; Chelsea Krentz; Louise Ernst; Shannon Leson; Gay Patrick; Margaret Lissel; Scott Moffat; Alan Thomarat; Shawn Cook, Deputy Superintendent of Funeral and Cremation Services

Regrets: Gloria Malinoski

Guests:  11:00 a.m. – Roger Sobotkiewicz, Chair and CEO of the Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority, Superintendent under The Funeral and Cremation Services Act

Staff Present: Tanya Chernick-Aldridge, Office Administrator; Kim Eberts, Assistant Registrar and Compliance Officer; Colin Bachynski, Registrar

An in-camera meeting was held at the beginning of the meeting.

No complaints have been reported since the last Council meeting. Two files are currently in the preliminary evaluation stage, as additional information has been requested from the licensee.

The following motions were passed:

  • To direct the administration to create a conflict of interest, skills matrix, and consent forms, for review by council, to be sent to those who have expressed interest in sitting on committees.
  • To approve the October 2025 Revenue & Expense Reports as presented.
  • For three people to be added to the Investigation Committee as public members.
  • Accept the Human Resources Committee recommendation to hire John Kodas as Compliance Officer.

The next meeting of Council will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
