 Synopsis of Minutes

Present: Raymond Bailey, Chairperson; Shannon Leson, Vice-Chairperson; Lisa Bos; Gloria Malinoski; Nancy Kirk; Robert Volk; Jeff Weafer; Chrystal Armstrong; Agnes Ewen; Eleanor Shumay; Sandy Mahon, Registrar

The Registrar advised there have been no new complaints received since the last meeting of Council.   A stay of formal charges has been agreed upon by the parties in relation to Council file 2014-12 and will be in effect as long as the agreement of the parties is adhered.  Eighty-seven Compliance reviews have been conducted to date.

Motions were passed to approve the following bylaw and form revisions:

  • 2014 – Professional Development
  • 2050 – Licensing Procedures – Salespersons
  • Form 20 – Embalmer/Funeral Director Student Registration Application
  • Form 21 – License Application for a Conditional License
  • Form 32 – Student Salesperson Registration Application

A motion was passed to approve only the use of the following titles:

  • Licensed Funeral Director
  • Licensed Embalmer
  • Licensed Salesperson
  • Intern Funeral Director
  • Intern Embalmer
  • Student Funeral Director
  • Student Embalmer
  • Certified Crematorium Technician
  • Certified Service Practitioner (CFSP)

Council was advised that the 2016 Audit will take place March 20th – 24th, 2017 by MWC Chartered Professional Accountants LLP.

A motion was passed to approve a proposed Memorandum of Understanding between the Funeral and Cremation Services Council of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Board of Funeral Homes, Inc.

A motion was passed to approve the Canadian College of Funeral Services (CCFS) as a recognized funeral educational program for Saskatchewan.

A motion was passed to accept the 2017 staff salary increases as presented by the personnel committee.

The 2017 Council meeting dates were established and will be posted on the Council website under Dates to Remember.

The next meeting of Council will be held on January 12th, 2017.
