Synopsis of Minutes

Present by Teleconference:  Raymond Bailey, Chairperson; Shannon Leson; Vice-Chairperson; Gloria Malinoski; Terry Zip; Agnes Ewen; Denny Huyghebaert, Deputy of Superintendent of Funeral & Cremation Services (at 9:30 a.m.)

Council was advised that a communication was received from the College of Physicians and Surgeons advising that Physicians would be advised they may not charge for signing death certificates and that this information was relayed to licensees.

A motion was passed to prepare Advisory 23 as suggested by an Investigation Committee and to communicate it with all licensees.

A motion was passed to appoint Tamara Seghers, EFDS 551 & Trevor Watts, EFDS 542, to the Investigation Panel.

A motion was passed to appoint the following members to a discipline committee to hear and determine the complaint for file #2013-09:

  • Basil Forsberg (Licensee) as Chairperson
  • Rick Dutchak (Licensee)
  • Dan Martens (Licensee)
  • Blair Scott (Licensee)
  • Nancy Kirk (Public Appointee)

A motion was passed to appoint the following members to a discipline committee to hear and determine the complaint for file #2014-12:

  • Patrick Grondin (Licensee) as Chairperson
  • Myles Ernst (Licensee)
  • Dan Martens (Licensee)
  • Blair Scott (Licensee)
  • Nancy Kirk (Public Appointee)

A motion was passed to approve the February 2016 Revenue & Expense reports as presented.  And a further motion was passed to approve the 2015 Audited Financial Statements as presented by KPMG.

A motion was passed to have the Resource & Compliance Officer, and Gloria Malinoski, attend a Public Compassion Fatigue/Wellness workshop to determine its suitability for presentation to licensees in Saskatchewan.

The next meeting of Council will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Radisson Hotel, Saskatoon.
