Synopsis of Minutes

 

Present: Raymond Bailey, Chairperson; Shannon Leson, Vice-Chairperson; Lis Bos; Nancy Kirk; Jeff Weafer; Terry Zip; Agnes Ewen; Eleanor Shumay; Larry Wilson, Superintendent of Funeral & Cremation Services; Sandy Mahon, Registrar

Teleconference: Gloria Malinoski; Robert Volk

Council was advised that one complaint has been received since the last meeting of Council and following a preliminary evaluation no further action was required.  Sixty-one compliance reviews have been conducted to date and three file by file trust reviews have been conducted.

A motion was passed to approved the revisions to the following bylaws and forms:

  • 2020 – Registration of Students
  • 2050 – Licensing Procedures – Salespersons
  • 2070 – Examinations of the Council
  • 8080 – Cremation Record Keeping
  • 9000 – Schedule of Fees
    • Removal of registration fee for students
  • Form 20 – Embalmer/Funeral Director Student Registration Application
  • Form 21 – License Application for a Conditional License

A motion was passed to approve the April 2015 Revenue & Expense Report as presented.

Discussion was held with representative of AON Hewitt and KPMG regarding the annual evaluation of the Assurance Fund and Council will be supplied with correspondence summarizing this discussion for future consideration by Council.

Council was advised that the Chairperson of the Communication Committee, Shannon Leson, and the Registrar met with Todd Lumbard, President of the SK Board of Funeral Homes Inc. to discuss a joint communication strategy.

Council was advised that feedback from the 2015 Spring Symposium was very positive and the results of the online survey of licensees of the Spring Symposium which have been received to date have also been shared with Council.

A motion was passed to approve the 2015/2016 Committees of Council as presented.

The next meeting of Council will be held on September 10, 2015.
