SYNOPSIS OF MINUTES

Present:
Todd Lumbard, Chairperson; David Grambo, Vice-Chairperson; Jeff Ofstie;

A motion was made to adopt the final report from AON Hewitt for the Actuarial Valuation of the Assurance Fund.

The Registrar reported 2 complaints have been received since the last Council meeting.  Both complaints have been referred to Investigation Committees.

Council approved the appointment of Michael O’Connor to the Investigation Panel.

Council authorized the appointment of Darren Fedusiak, Chairperson; Don Sheppard, Licensee and Art Hunter, Consumer to an Investigation Committee to consider Council file 2012-05.

Council authorized the appointment of Don Sheppard, Chairperson; Dana Smith-Short, Licensee and Art Hunter, Consumer to an Investigation Committee to consider Council file 2012-06.

Council was advised 82 compliance reviews and 16 pre-paid contract compliance reviews have been conducted to date.

Proposed revisions to Council bylaws and forms were tabled to the October 2012 meeting of Council.

Pursuant to sub-section 16(1) of the Act, Council passed a motion agreeing that the Registrar will provide a list to Council for approval of the conditional licenses being extended.

Council discussed the definition of “Funeral Services”.  Council concurs that it is not essential that a Funeral Director be directly on site for any activity under the definition of “Funeral Services”, however the Funeral Home and/or the Funeral Director coordinating the funeral services assumes responsibility for the actions of non-licensed employees.

Council was advised the 2013 AGM/Spring Symposium has been moved to Evraz Place as the Regina Inn will be closed for renovations.

A motion was passed to refer bylaw 2012 to the Legislative Committee for review.

David Grambo resigned as Vice-Chairperson of Council and Phil Fredette was elected to the position.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2012.
